The Implications of Good Character

A great conviction has gripped my heart.
To stand in the knowledge that your calling and mine is holy,
Oh what a thought!
Imagine that my friends. Think about it for a moment.

What we have been created for is holy in the eyes of God.

What does this mean? what are the implications of this truth?

To be holy is to be set apart. It means that your calling, your purpose is holy, sacred and a spiritual and precious gift. It is a blessing and it is unique to you, not to be compared with another. Not to be despised. not to be hidden. not to be shirked. not to be neglected. not to be forgotten and not to be snuffed by others.

How do we know what our unique gift is?

To know we can reflect on these statements:

  1. If Christ is for us, then who can be against us?
  2.  His Character in us makes room for our gift to manifest in the most joyful ways. In Him there is no frustration, no fussing, no pain. He leads us into the way that we should go. Even if the world hates us for it and even if we are afflicted, if in Him we live and move and have our being, we can count it all joy when we are faced with trials. We are not moved.
  3. Character is important because character is  what goes before us. I cannot trust my own character because it will betray me every time. So, Holy Spirit is the best One we can learn from. His character and fruit is Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Gentleness, Faithfulness, and Self-control, against these there is no law.  Its why, if Christ is for us, then who can be against us?
  4. Remembering the Holy Spirit in all of our interactions serves us well. We should remember Him and invite Him into all of our interactions and responses because what we send to others has a tag on it that says, RETURN TO SENDER. Beloved, what we give out we receive back. Our character makes room for our gift and our gift makes room for us. You can be gifted and talented but it is your character that keeps you favored in the places that your gift has opened up for you. Have you ever been in a situation where you see the gift in a person, excited you give them an opportunity to practice their gift but after a few interactions with that gifted person you find that the relationship can not continue because their character is causing pain. At that point, it doesn’t matter how good the gift is, if the character is causing pain. This is about how we treat others while practicing our gifts and talents. It’s about integrity and what you do behind the scenes. It’s about how important God’s people really are to you. Afterall, the most holy calling and what we base our entire response to our faith is Love God and Love People. Respect, love and peaceful responses to life and all that happens in it, is the Most Holy Calling, A Life that has taken on the life of Christ.

Beloved, this Holy Calling is our purpose and we get to display it with the gifts and talents God has given us. We will not be perfect in this, we will make mistakes along the way because we are weak. But staying humble and in the joy of the Lord we can chose to take one day at a time knowing that each interaction with life is a beautiful opportunity to grow in the earth-preserving character of Christ Jesus.

Each day we have new mercies, to begin again and allow God to lead us. Each day we can rest in knowing that in our weakness His strength is perfected in us. If we give mercy to others the Lord is merciful to us. Because God has extended so much grace to us, we can and should extend grace to others in Christ.

God Deserves a Happy You. For His Glory and For His Delight!

  1. This is, Oh so good just like our Father! When I read this part “We should remember Him and invite Him into all of our interactions and responses because what we send to others has a tag on it that says, RETURN TO SENDER,” definitely was a moment to gasp and reflect. Many times, as spirit-man, wrapped in flesh, we forget we are and carry his image, created in Christ. To just ponder on this alone and realize that it has a tag on it that says “return to sender” should be the ticket to say I am going to live righteously through grace, love, joy, and peacefully for ourselves and towards other because it also returns to Abba, and how might he feel. We all fall short but his mercies and grace is always made new and sufficient.

    1. “because it also returns to ABBA!” this right here! Thank you for sharing and provoking this important piece!! God is worthy of our good behavior. Glory to His name.
